Arrival Information for the Home Game Against Wolfsburg

Focus on the Wolfsburg Match: How to Get to the Stadium Stress-Free

Around the home game against Wolfsburg, arrival and departure to the Europa-Park Stadium are tightly organized. Additional trains, special trams, shuttle services, and clear access rules are intended to ensure that the large crowds of visitors move as smoothly as possible before and after the game.

Those who plan early can avoid unnecessary detours, crowded boarding points, and frustration at the entrances. Here are the most important points regarding train, tram, shuttle, bicycle, and parking.

Additional Trains and Trams to Bundle Arrivals

For the home game, DB Regio AG is providing additional trains between Freiburg Central Station and Messe/University before and after the game. For departures, there may also be replacement bus services on some routes north of Freiburg on the Rheintalbahn – anyone traveling further north should allow extra time for this.

Freiburger Verkehrs AG (VAG) also increases service to the "Europa-Park Stadion" stop on Bundesliga home game days. The special lines run towards "Messe" and stop directly at the stadium. Boarding is possible, among others, at "Bertoldsbrunnen", "Paduaallee", and "Bissierstraße". Experience shows that it is worth not boarding only at the "Rathaus im Stühlinger" stop – there is often particularly high demand before home games.

The special service starts about three hours before kick-off and runs until about two and a half hours after the final whistle. Important for planning: Since the timetable change on December 15, 2024, line 4 goes to Vauban and no longer to Zähringen.

Clear Routes Apply After the Game for Train, Bus, and Bicycle

After the final whistle, the special trains depart from the "Europa-Park-Stadion" stop. Boarding at the terminal stop "Messe" is not possible. To prevent congestion at a few bottlenecks, a digital guidance system directs fans to the appropriate platforms or – depending on the route – onto the footpath towards the city center.

Additionally, free shuttle buses are available before and after the game. The articulated buses run from the Messe parking lot or from the VAG terminal stop to the Europa-Park Stadium. After the game, return trips are also possible from the bus station. The service is mainly intended to relieve the heavily used footpath along the airfield. The buses are available at the latest two and a half hours before kick-off.

For cyclists, there is a special measure after the game: For 60 to 90 minutes after the end of the game, one lane of Madisonallee outbound (from the Madisonallee/Suwonallee intersection) is closed to car traffic and opened for bicycles. This is intended to make departure by bike towards Zähringen faster and safer.

Parking Is Only Possible with Authorization

Anyone arriving by car must adhere to strict rules: Access to the stadium parking lots (P1 to P9 as well as bus parking spaces) is only possible with a parking permit purchased in advance. No parking tickets are sold on site. Without a parking ticket, Suwonallee may not be used on match day starting four hours before kick-off.

  • P1 to P4 are only accessible via Granadaallee.
  • P5 to P9 and the bus station are only accessible via Madisonallee.
  • The guest bus parking lot is only intended for guest buses and not for cars.

Since mid-April, a new rule applies for Park & Ride: Parking at Park & Ride lots now requires a special parking permit or a combination ticket. Personalized tickets as well as the season ticket for the Europa-Park Stadium also entitle holders to use the RVF. Those who need the parking permit can download it from the VAG online shop and place it printed (Print@home) behind the windshield – alternatively, it is available at the VAG PlusPunkt.

Additional Offers for Taxis, Bicycles, and Fans with Limited Mobility

The infrastructure for taxi guests has been expanded: Since the start of the season, there is an additional taxi stand with 13 spaces at the bus station. It supplements the location at Achim-Stocker-Straße and is intended to help relieve traffic and avoid confusing situations.

Those arriving by bicycle will find a total of 3,700 free parking spaces around the stadium. If you want to park your bike especially close and securely, you can book a reserved spot in the "Rad-Ecke": The ticket costs two euros and is valid for area F3 directly in front of entrance E3 between the main and north stands. The bicycle parking lot is fenced off and only accessible with a valid ticket. It opens three hours before kick-off; security staff remain on site until two hours after the end of the game. As long as spaces are available, tickets can also be rented on site for cash.

For fans with limited mobility, there is also the free "SC Mobil": an electric shuttle that runs on home game days between the tram stop and entrance E1 – intended for ticket holders for whom the nearly 800-meter walk to the stadium is only possible with great effort. Before the game, the shuttle runs from two hours before kick-off until 15 minutes before kick-off, after the game from 15 minutes after the final whistle until one hour after the final whistle.

Important for everyone arriving by bike: The central boulevard between the tram stop and the stadium is reserved for pedestrian traffic. In addition, some crossings and access roads around the stadium are closed on match days – those who use the designated routes usually arrive much more stress-free.

In summary: The focus is clearly on managed arrival and departure. Those who use public transport, shuttles, or bicycles and follow the rules for access and parking will get to and from the Europa-Park Stadium much more smoothly around the Wolfsburg match – and also get away easily after the final whistle.
