Messe Freiburg | Events & Parking 2026

The Messe Freiburg is one of the most important venues, conference centers, and event locations in southern Germany. It is operated by FWTM on behalf of the city of Freiburg. The site connects three flexibly usable exhibition halls, the multifunctional SICK-ARENA with an attached central foyer, and modern conference rooms to create a location designed for trade fairs, public fairs, congresses, conferences, shows, and other large events. Since its opening in 2000, the fair has been generously and resource-efficiently expanded, and the central foyer with more than 2,000 m² serves as a representative entrance or additional exhibition space during major events. This combination of size, clarity, and versatility makes Messe Freiburg equally interesting for organizers and visitors. Events, Dates, and Program at Messe Freiburg

Those looking for Messe Freiburg today, Messe Freiburg dates, or Messe Freiburg program will find the most reliable information in the official event calendar. Messe Freiburg consolidates there its own events organized by FWTM, additional dates, and the respective ticket options. For its own events, there is the online ticket shop of FWTM, while other events are available online via Reservix or at known ticket outlets. Thus, the calendar serves as the central point of contact for anyone wanting a quick overview of current events, upcoming dates, or already published data for 2026. Particularly practical: The information structure is designed not only for guests but also for anyone planning specifically for programs, visiting times, or ticket options. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/info-center/visitor-information))

The program of Messe Freiburg is exceptionally broad. Officially, the location lists suitable event formats including trade fairs, exhibitions, congresses, conferences, events, galas, TV shows, and sports events. In practice, this diversity is reflected in well-known formats such as Plaza Culinaria, the caravan live trade fair, the South Baden Used Car Fair, Baby+Child, the International Culture Exchange Freiburg, the Job Start Fair, and the Käpsele Innovation Festival. The Freiburg Fair also regularly uses the site and attracts large visitor numbers. Those interested in Messe Freiburg 2026 already see several dates in the ticket environment, such as Rauch&Glut 2026, caravan live 2026, Baby+Child 2026, and the South Baden Used Car Fair 2026. Thus, Messe Freiburg is not only visible as a location but also as a vibrant rhythm setter of the regional event calendar. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/halls-rooms/halls-1-3))

Access, Parking, and Public Transport

The access to Messe Freiburg is clear and well signposted. Those arriving by car can drive from the north and south via the Rhine Valley Autobahn A5 to the Freiburg-Mitte exit; from there, it takes about seven minutes to reach the fair. From the east, the route leads via the A81 and B31 towards Freiburg-Mitte. The official navigation address is Neuer Messplatz 1 in Freiburg im Breisgau. Particularly important for drivers: Parking spaces are available directly in front of the entrance, with a regular parking fee of 5 euros per day. The site itself has around 3,000 parking spaces, including 1,204 permanent parking spaces, 41 disabled parking spaces, 10 charging spaces for electric cars, 20 motorcycle spaces, and 11 taxi spaces. This means that Messe Freiburg is designed for comfort and short distances even with large visitor flows. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/info-center/visitor-information))

Messe Freiburg is also very well connected by public transport. Tram line 4 brings visitors directly to the Messe Freiburg stop and operates every 7.5 minutes; the journey from the main train station takes about ten minutes. Those traveling from the Black Forest or Kaiserstuhl can additionally use the Breisgau S-Bahn lines 1 and 11 to Freiburg Messe/Universität and walk about eight minutes from there. Additionally, FWTM refers to bus line 22, which goes directly to the Messe Freiburg or FWTM Neuer Messplatz stop. Bicycle parking spaces are also available directly at the main entrance, and the Frelo system has a rental point near the fair. This combination of train, tram, bus, bicycle, and car is a significant advantage for visitors looking for Messe Freiburg parking costs, access, or today. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/info-center/visitor-information))

Halls, SICK-ARENA, and Capacities

The space offerings of Messe Freiburg are modular and therefore suitable for very different formats. Halls 1 to 3 together provide 12,000 m² of exhibition space. Hall 1 comprises 2,400 m², Hall 2 6,000 m², and Hall 3 3,600 m². The halls can be used individually or in combination, making them suitable for both small and large trade and public fairs, congresses, conferences, and other event formats. Technically, they are equipped with natural light, complete or partial blackout, flexible partitioning, and level access for trucks. The technical specifications are also clearly communicated: high ceilings, load-bearing floor areas, and media connections in the appropriate grid support professional event planning. For organizers, this means one thing: a lot of flexibility with a well-planned infrastructure. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/halls-rooms/halls-1-3))

The SICK-ARENA, or Hall 4, is the large multifunctional hall of Messe Freiburg and showcases its strengths especially during concerts, shows, arena formats, fairs, and corporate events. Officially, depending on the seating arrangement, it can accommodate 4,140, 3,140, 2,150, or 2,020 seats; unseated, the capacity reaches up to 9,000, 5,000, 3,500, or 2,500 people, and there are also partially seated and mobile grandstand options. The hall measures 4,800 m², has a clear height of 11.6 meters at the edge and 16.2 meters at the dome. Additionally, the central foyer with more than 2,000 m² and ten conference rooms that can be flexibly combined are available. This combination of arena, foyer, and conference areas explains why Messe Freiburg works equally well for concert evenings, professional congresses, and large public events. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/halls-rooms/hall-4-sick-arena))

Tickets, Cloakroom, and Visitor Information

For visitors, Messe Freiburg is organized very transparently. Tickets and vouchers for its own events are available in the online ticket shop of FWTM, while other events can be found through the event calendar, Reservix, or the official ticket outlets. On-site in Freiburg, several sales points are available, including the tourist information at Rathausplatz, the VAG Pluspunkt, Messe Freiburg itself, and the BZ ticket service. At almost all trade and public fairs as well as at all concerts and shows, there is a cloakroom that costs 3 euros per coat or piece of luggage. Additionally, the fair points out that bags and backpacks larger than DIN A4 must be checked and handed in at the entrance. This creates a clear, well-understandable visitor organization and ensures a structured process during large events. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/info-center/visitor-information))

For those traveling from the surrounding area, Messe Freiburg offers practical solutions. The information points to the event ticket from Deutsche Bahn, which is particularly suitable for visitors of trade fairs. Additionally, the so-called Congress Ticket or RVF combined ticket is important: It entitles holders to free use of public transport in the Regio Verkehrsverbund Freiburg, making travel even more comfortable. Especially for events with a high number of visitors, this is a relevant advantage as parking, tram, regional train, and tickets can be sensibly combined. For people searching for Messe Freiburg today, this is a very useful orientation aid, as it quickly leads to practical points: ticket purchase, entry, cloakroom, public transport, and parking. The fair thus considers not only the actual event but the entire visitor experience from the first click to the journey home. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/info-center/visitor-information))

Accessibility, Comfort, and On-Site Service

Messe Freiburg places great importance on accessibility. Access from the Messe Freiburg stop is barrier-free, and the stop is connected to the site via a tactile guidance system. Reserved parking spaces for people with limited mobility are available in the Messe parking garage; most are located directly in front of Hall 1, with additional spaces near Hall 4. From there, there is barrier-free access via a ramp next to Hall 4. Additionally, the halls and foyers are accessible without thresholds, the doors are at least 90 cm wide, and all conference areas have wheelchair-friendly elevators. All event areas have accessible restrooms, and accessible visitor seats are also planned for concerts and shows. This means that Messe Freiburg not only meets standard requirements but makes inclusion a visible part of the visit. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/info-center/accessibility))

On-site comfort also includes bright foyers, large glass fronts, good orientation, and generous pathways. Messe Freiburg describes its spaces as versatile, flooded with light, and prepared for different usage scenarios. The central foyer is not only a reception area but also a representative space for encounters and exhibition areas. In the conference room area, the equipment is designed so that individual rooms or larger combinations are possible without needing to share other areas. This is practical for organizers and pleasant for visitors, as pathways remain short and processes clear. Additionally, the 360-degree tour option allows halls, foyers, SICK-ARENA, and outdoor areas to be digitally explored in advance. This, combined with good transport routes and professional visitor guidance, creates a fair that is convincing in both everyday usability and event quality. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en?utm_source=openai))

Sustainability, Jobs, and What Makes Messe Freiburg Special

Sustainability is a real competitive advantage of Messe Freiburg. The location operates on 100 percent green electricity sourced from the municipal energy supplier badenova and generates its own solar energy over the entire roof area. The facility has been in operation since 2006, producing around 235,000 kWh of electricity per year according to official information, saving about 131 tons of CO2 annually. Since the end of 2020, waste heat has also been used as CO2-neutral heat, thereby avoiding further emissions. The fair also relies on resource-saving concepts in catering, transport routes, and regional service providers. This aligns the location very well with Freiburg's image as a Green City and with events that should be future-oriented not only in content but also in organization. ([messe.freiburg.de](https://messe.freiburg.de/en/sustainability?utm_source=openai))

Those looking for jobs or job offers at Messe Freiburg will find them at the FWTM career world. The company describes itself as an employer that brings people together and is constantly seeking support; the career page also refers to training, studies, internships, and other entry opportunities. The job portal features specific roles such as project manager Messe Freiburg or hall manager Messe Freiburg. This is particularly interesting because FWTM not only manages Messe Freiburg but several venues and areas of responsibility. Together with the regular in-house events, strong ticket and visitor organization, and diverse hall concepts, it becomes clear why Messe Freiburg is such an attractive location for events, fairs, and career prospects. Those searching today for programs, dates, parking, tickets, or jobs will find a location that convincingly combines content diversity and professional infrastructure.
