A well curated museum with a wonderful staff. The small museum is well worth a visit for anyone but especially if you’re interested in the Nazi regime's impact on Freiburg. Incredible displays and a room to listen to survivor testimonies. We were told there is free entrance till September of this year.

From a Korean perspective, the region-specific materials in this collection are presented with striking clarity. It completely transformed my perception of a place I once viewed merely as a tourist destination. The audio recordings, in particular, provide an invaluable and immersive experience. This is a site where one must confront a painful yet essential history. I hope to see similar historical records preserved and displayed in Japan as well.

One of the most extraordinary museums I have ever visited. I ended up spending almost three hours here. It starts with some brief post-1918 history and then from 1932 through to the start of the war and onto post-war history, all relating to Freiburg. Displays are in German, French and English. I learnt so much and it has given me a lot to think about. I also confess to being moved to tears on occasion. I highly recommend visiting this museum. The museum opened at the end of March 2025 and will be free entry for the first year. Huge congratulations to all involved in establishing the centre.

This museum, opened March 2025, vividly traces the local Nazi movement's evolution since 1918. The historical building, the former 1936 Verkehrsamt, is an exhibit in itself. A central highlight is the propaganda mural by Theodor Kammerer from 1939, which is partially concealed by curators (but there's a complete thumbnail of it below). It's a modern and important museum. There's the Museen Freiburg app to download, which provides an excellent 25-step audio tour.

The entrance is free until March. Very interesting museum. Organized and full of history. It has 3 small floors; it took us 1.5 hours.
