The Collection in Focus: Rediscovering Modern Art in Freiburg
On Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Museum of New Art in Freiburg invites you to a one-hour guided tour through its diverse collection presentation. Between Classical Modernism and contemporary art, an intense discovery experience opens up for all those who wish to learn about Freiburg's cultural heritage from a new perspective.
Art History in Lively Dialogue
The tour leads through four rooms, where different artistic positions interact with each other. Works by Auguste Rodin, Wilhelm Lehmbruck, and Julius Bissier are in dialogue with pieces by contemporary artists such as Maria Lassnig, Susanne Kühn, and Susi Juvan. This vividly connects art historical developments, personal visual languages, and societal issues.
From Classical Modernism to the Present
The tour makes visible how multifaceted the collection of the Museum of New Art unfolds. Self-portraits by female artists from different generations, paintings from the New Objectivity, as well as sculptures and plastics provide an exciting glimpse into changed perceptions, materials, and forms of expression. Expert explanations place the works within their art historical movements and creation periods.
A Concentrated Museum Experience in Freiburg
The event runs from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and takes place independently of the weather at the Museum of New Art in Marienstraße. The building is accessible according to DIN 18040 and has a wheelchair-accessible restroom. Tickets for the event and entry are available online as well as at the museum's ticket office.
Conclusion
The tour combines well-founded art education with an inspiring encounter with significant works of Classical Modernism and contemporary positions. Secure your event ticket and experience the collection of the Museum of New Art as a cultural enrichment with surprising perspectives.
