Art in Dialogue: Curator's Tour of Friendly Match. Nice : Freiburg

On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the curatorial team at the Museum of Contemporary Art will guide visitors through the exhibition Friendly Match. Nice : Freiburg. From 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, visitors will experience an insightful tour through a German-French encounter of two museum collections.

When Nice Meets Freiburg

The focus is on the dialogue between selected works from the Musée International d’Art Naïf Anatole Jakovsky in Nice and the collection of the Freiburg Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition contrasts paintings of so-called Naive Art with works from Freiburg, opening new perspectives on imagery, motifs, and artistic stance.

Intense Color Positions and Surprising Imagery

Flower still lifes, human representations, and an original approach to materials define the exhibition. The curators explain the background of the exhibition concept, expertly contextualize the artistic positions, and reveal how differently artists display perception, everyday life, and imagination.

A Tour with Personal Contextualization

The one-hour tour combines art historical expertise with immediate museum experience. Amidst intense colors, imaginative compositions, and idiosyncratic forms, a lively exchange about Naive Art, Art brut, and the relationship between academic training and intuitive creation emerges.

Conclusion: Experience This Artistic Encounter Live

The curator's tour offers a concentrated access to an extraordinary exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Those who wish to not only view the works from Nice and Freiburg but also understand their interconnections will experience art education at eye level that evening. The event ticket is available online and at the museum ticket office.
