On Saturday, October 3, 2026, RKG Freiburg 2000 hosts KSV Witten 07 for a home match in the 1st Wrestling Bundesliga. The duel begins at 7:30 PM in the Staudinger Sports Hall, combining tactical precision, explosive individual fights, and an intense stadium atmosphere.

Freiburg Aims to Use Home Advantage

RKG Freiburg 2000 enters the fifth match day with momentum. The season opener brought, among other things, a 16:9 home victory against RKG Reilingen/Hockenheim as well as a much-noticed 16:13 success against the reigning champion SV Wacker Burghausen. After three match days, Freiburg stood in eighth place in the Bundesliga table with 4:2 points and a match record of 44:40.

Witten Travels with Experience and Fighting Spirit

KSV Witten 07 is one of the traditional teams in German team wrestling and won their season opener against AC Lichtenfels with 12:10. This season, 20 clubs are competing in the Bundesliga. Witten brings an international squad of 17 athletes from six nations to the mat and seeks their next step in the table with victories against Lichtenfels and ASV Urloffen.

Tactics Decide Every Team Point

In wrestling, excitement arises in each individual encounter. Coaches must precisely coordinate formations, weight classes, and styles. Freestyle and Greco-Roman require different solutions: pressure in standing combat, controlled leg attacks, strong throws, and consistent follow-ups determine the team points. Even a narrow points victory can change the course of the entire Bundesliga evening.

Floodlights, Fan Chants, and Field Tension

Visitors to the Staudinger Sports Hall can expect a concentrated combat atmosphere. When the wrestlers step onto the mat from the corners, audience noise, tension, and emotions condense into a special live experience. Before the main Bundesliga match, RKG Freiburg II faces RG Waldkirch-Kollnau starting at 5:00 PM. The official weigh-in for the main match begins at 6:45 PM.
