With real horsepower through the Freiburg forest
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, WaldHaus Freiburg invites you to a special introductory course: Participants will experience a traditional and particularly gentle form of forestry through horse logging. From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Jürgen Duddek, a recognized expert in single-horse logging, will provide practical knowledge about horses, logging work, and sustainable forestry.
Forest work in the rhythm of the horse
When hooves meet forest soil and pulling power, line control, and human attention come together, an impressive tension of the playing field of a special kind is created. The focus is on sensitivity in handling the animal, respect for one's own limits, and a feel for the special situation.
Traditional craft and sustainable forestry
Single-horse logging demonstrates how horses are used in gentle forestry. The method supports a careful approach to forest soil and combines traditional experience with modern demands for sustainability. Jürgen Duddek introduces the processes and explains what is important in communication, tactics, and safe collaboration between human and horse.
For beginners from 16 years
No prior knowledge is required. The course is aimed at those aged 16 and over who want to get to know forests, horses, and practical forestry work up close. The participation fee is 119 euros. Registration is required; the published registration deadline is October 12, 2026.
