Restart with a Clear Freiburg Signature

Freiburg is entering the season with a roster that strongly focuses on German players and its own youth development. According to the club, four import players are part of the squad. Captain Britta Daub leads a team that finished in tenth place last season and is now starting the competition with new energy.

The preparation brought narrow games against Nyon and Keltern as well as losses against Osnabrück. This provided the team with important insights for tactics, formations, and playing systems. The focus is on controlled ball movement, aggressive pressing, and how quickly the newly formed team finds its rhythm.

Exciting Duels Under the Baskets

In the guard position, the focus is on the duel between Herner returnee Annika Holzschuh and Freiburg's captain Britta Daub. Under the basket, new Eagles player Teagan Thurman awaits a physically demanding challenge. In the battle for rebounds, she will face Herner rookie Marcavia Shavers.

The personnel situation also adds to the excitement. Lara Gierlich was not fully fit before the season began, while Freiburg coaches Stefan Möller and Stefano Manna are working on finding the optimal lineup. Every possession, every fastbreak, and every rebound can shape the kickoff in the 1. DBBL.

Floodlights, Fan Chants, and Court Tension

When the ball first passes through the hoop, Uni-Sporthalle 2 transforms into a compact basketball cauldron. Crowd noise, quick ball exchanges, and hard defensive work create intense court tension. The mascot Birdie adds a family atmosphere to the season opener while regional specialties await guests in the hospitality area.

Doors open one hour before the game begins. For visitors with disabilities, the organizer offers special regulations: A companion receives free admission with the appropriate marking B in the severe disability card, subject to prior registration.
