Eva Lezzi reads from The Big-City Detectives
Excitement, friendship, and keen observation are at the heart of this reading at the 33rd Freiburg Children's Literature Festival. Eva Lezzi takes young listeners aged eight and older into an unconventional detective novel that combines fast-paced action with big questions of togetherness.
A tricky case in the middle of the big city
Irina experiences a mysterious double track: First, her dog Gloria runs away, shortly after that, Annabelle, an elderly lady from a group of chess players in the park, goes missing. Irina becomes suspicious and calls her friends, the big-city detectives, together. Together they begin to check clues and solve the case.
Detective story with literary quality
The story combines the genre of children's crime with a lively, emotional narrative style. Eva Lezzi creates a narrative world where courage, friendship, and careful observation are crucial. Between rapid investigations and reflective moments, a literary experience unfolds that takes young readers seriously and activates their imagination.
Reading atmosphere and author encounter
The reading in the space of the Young Theatre Freiburg creates room for an immediate encounter with the author. Voice, language, and the excitement of the narrated case make literature an experiential joint activity. The event is aimed at children aged eight and older and is part of a festival that has been facilitating encounters with authors of children's literature since 1994.

At Eva Lezzi’s reading, the audience can expect an energetic author encounter with an exciting children's novel about friendship, suspicion, and the art of careful observation.
