On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the WaldHaus Freiburg will transform into a special experience location for families. During the family action day for tree climbing, children from six years old will be safely secured by ropes as they climb into the trees and discover the forest from the perspective of squirrels and birds.
Securely Up to the Tree Canopies
With expert guidance, the children experience the forest from a new perspective. The secure climbing combines movement, courage, and body coordination with an immediate learning experience in nature. The activity is designed for children aged six and older accompanied by an adult.

Between the climbing activities, families will learn the significance of tree climbing techniques for forest management. This creates a child-friendly access to the forest, trees, and sustainable use. Curiosity, self-confidence, and joint discovery are the focus.
Whittling, Crafting, and Exploring the Forest

The event takes place in two courses: Course 1 runs from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Course 2 from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The speaker is Hannah Dölle, an environmental scientist and educational staff member at the WaldHaus.
