Alberta's Wish Shop: A Picture Book Concert Full of Sound and Imagination
When pictures shine, words dance, and music tells stories, a special family experience begins at the Literature House Freiburg. Martina Walther and musicians from the Ensemble Recherche invite children from 4 years old to a sounding picture book concert at the 33rd Freiburg Children's Literature Festival.
An Imaginative World for Curious Children
With a cheerful doorbell, the world of Alberta Brocante and her wish shop opens. The story appears in large format on a Kamishibai and connects colorful images with lively words and the sounds of a brass trio. Children discover what a rainy morning in a bustling city sounds like, what rhythm happiness has, and how language turns into music.
Images, Sounds, and Words as a Learning Experience
The picture book concert stimulates several senses at once and supports age-appropriate development of language sensitivity, imagination, and musical perception. Rhymes, sound colors, and changing moods make literature accessible to children. Children are given space for wonder, their own thoughts, and playful curiosity – a valuable learning fun in shared time with family.
Safe Cultural Enjoyment for Families
The event is aimed at children from 4 years old and takes place regardless of the weather at the Literature House Freiburg. The venue is accessible for people with mobility impairments or in wheelchairs. Participation is free, but registration is necessary. This creates a well-planned family program with cultural inspiration and reliable framework conditions.
Part of the Freiburg Children's Literature Festival
The Lirum Larum Reading Festival has been organized since 1994 by the Cultural Office of the City of Freiburg in cooperation with the Theater Freiburg. Over eight days, the festival connects readings, exhibitions, and activities around children's literature. The concert with Martina Walther and the Ensemble Recherche is part of the special offerings for the youngest audience at the Literature House.
Conclusion: Families can expect a warm-hearted and sensory cultural experience where children's literature, music, and visual art merge into a common journey through Alberta's wish shop. Children's laughter, wonder, and new sound worlds make this festival date a special shared time. Register now and experience the picture book concert live.
