Discovering through Play: Gaming in the Children's and Youth Library
Grab a controller, get curious, and explore new gaming worlds together: At Gaming in the Children's and Youth Library, children aged 8 and up can enjoy a varied family experience at the Freiburg City Library. On October 8, 2026, Nintendo Switch and PS4 games will be available to try out.
Digital Gaming Worlds for Curious Children
For 30 minutes at a time, children can get to know various console games and gather their own gaming experiences. The program combines the joy of playing with a child-friendly learning experience: children discover rules, make decisions, and experience how playing together can promote communication and consideration for others.
Aged Appropriately, Focused, and Fun
The gaming program is aimed at children aged 8 and up. The limited playtime supports a mindful approach to digital media and creates space for curiosity, concentration, and children's laughter. Parents accompany their children during a safe and manageable library visit.
A Family Experience in the Heart of Freiburg
The Main City Library at Münsterplatz offers a centrally located place for shared time. Among books, media, and game consoles, families experience how libraries today also connect digital education, exchange, and fun learning.
Conclusion: Playing Together and Discovering New Things
Gaming in the Children's and Youth Library invites children aged 8 and up to a free, age-appropriate gaming break with Nintendo Switch and PS4. Those wanting to try out digital gaming worlds in a relaxed atmosphere will experience a special family event in Freiburg.
