Heimattage Baden-Württemberg 2026: Oberkirch celebrates history, culture, and enjoyment
Under the motto “Home is where good things are created,” Oberkirch became the stage for a statewide festival year full of encounters, traditions, and modern culture in 2026. The Heimattage Baden-Württemberg connect regional identity with music, customs, literature, craftsmanship, and culinary experiences in the heart of the Renchtal.
A whole year as a multi-day experience
Since 1978, the Heimattage have changed their location every year, focusing on a different region of Baden-Württemberg. Oberkirch presented itself as the host in 2026 with a diverse program for locals and visitors. Numerous events, projects, and festival days brought the history, present, and future of the city into focus.
Three anniversaries shape the festival year
The program was marked by 700 years of city rights, the 350th anniversary of the death of the Baroque poet Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen, and 300 years of distillation rights. These anniversaries combined city history, literature, regional craftsmanship, and the enjoyment culture of Ortenau into a characteristic festival profile.
Baden-Württemberg Day with music and regional enjoyment
On May 16 and 17, Oberkirch became the showcase of THE LÄND during Baden-Württemberg Day. A two-day trade fair, a stage program with SWR1 Pop & Poesie in Concert, SWR1 Pfännle, a distillation mile, artisan craftsmanship, and culinary offerings created a festival atmosphere in the city center. The open Sunday complemented the program.
State festival days with customs and great stage moments
From September 11 to 13, the state festival days formed the highlight of the Heimattage year. The award of the homeland medal opened the festive weekend. During the home game of Glasperlenspiel, modern pop met the special energy of a regional major event. A children’s and customs day, a festive custom evening with the Stadelhofners, a Grand Zapfenstreich, and the grand state festival parade with groups from all over Baden-Württemberg characterized the festival days.
Oberkircher days and the atmosphere of the Renchtal
As early as May 14 and 15, the Oberkircher days took place across the nine districts. Hocks, yard festivals, open farm shops, and distilleries, as well as guided tours, made regional features directly experienceable. A concert by the duo piano.vocal with the Baden-Symphonie Orchestra and the State Police Orchestra set a musical accent against the backdrop of the historic city center.
Festival organization with a strong sense of community
The Heimattage thrive on the collaboration of the city of Oberkirch, the state of Baden-Württemberg, local associations, cultural initiatives, businesses, craft enterprises, and tourism actors. This created a festival format that not only used individual stages but also involved the entire city and its districts. The sense of community reached from the customs association to the modern concert stage.

The Heimattage Baden-Württemberg 2026 showcased Oberkirch as a vibrant place between the Black Forest, Renchtal, literature, music, and enjoyment.
