From Waste Paper to Personal Paper Art

The Sunday Workshop Paper Making and Pouring at WaldHaus Freiburg combines creative design with practical environmental education. Children aged eight and older, as well as adults, discover how handmade stationery and individually designed cards are created from waste paper.

A Sensory Art Experience with Sustainable Material

The focus is on the direct examination of the material: water, paper fibers, and simple tools transform into new paper forms through one's own hands. Participants experience how damp fibers collect on the mold, how surfaces are formed, and how a piece of independent artwork grows from an everyday raw material.

Paper Recycling as an Aesthetic Experience

Paper making makes recycling tangible and relatable. The workshop combines craft techniques, ecological education, and creative design. It provides access to material aesthetics that goes far beyond a typical crafting activity: each card and sheet carries the traces of the production process and remains a visible personal one-of-a-kind piece.

Cultural Education for Children and Adults

Presenter Karen Graf, an environmental educator at Freiburg Waste Management, conveys the basics of paper recycling in a hands-on Sunday workshop. The offering opens a shared experiential space for families where sustainability, creativity, and cultural education come together. The exhibition atmosphere of WaldHaus is complemented by focused work on the material and group interaction.

Conclusion: Seeing Paper Afresh and Creating It Yourself

Visitors can expect an educational, creative afternoon with a sustainable focus. Those who want to not just use paper but experience its creation through all their senses will find an inspiring art experience in this workshop. Participation creates personal mementos and a new perspective on the value of recycled materials.
