When Archaeological Finds Begin to Speak
How can past living environments be explored from seemingly mute artifacts? The after-work tour After Work: Archaeology Meets Natural Science at the Archaeological Museum Colombischlössle demonstrates how modern scientific methods expand archaeology and provide new insights into earlier cultures.
Archaeology in Dialogue with Natural Science
Archaeological finds preserve traces of human history. Only through their precise examination do they reveal their full significance. During the tour, selected objects from the museum will be highlighted and connected with modern analysis methods. This involves the use of artifacts as well as the question of what information can be obtained about the identity of individual people.
Viewing Works with a Scientific Perspective
The archaeologist and anthropologist Julie Bauduin will convey how scientific investigations make archaeological sources readable in new ways. Material analyses, anthropological research, and careful contextualization in the historical context transform individual objects into complex testimonies of past living environments. The tour combines professional expertise with vivid cultural education.
A Concentrated Art Experience at Colombischlössle
The exhibition atmosphere of the Archaeological Museum Colombischlössle creates the right setting for an intense aesthetic experience beyond classical art appreciation. Among historical exhibits, shapes, materials, and visible signs of use, a direct access to the past emerges. The tour invites participants to take a closer look and trace the scientific work behind the understanding of archaeological objects.
Conclusion: Experience History Through New Insights
Visitors can expect a compact, enlightening tour about the interplay between archaeology and natural science. Those who want to learn how modern analyses make artifacts speak and reveal historical connections will experience a special artistic experience with scientific depth at Colombischlössle. The tour offers cultural enrichment, stimulating viewing of works, and new perspectives on the past.
