Organ Sounds between Art and Monastic Walls

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the Augustinermuseum in Freiburg will transform into a focused concert venue for half an hour. Students from the Freiburg University of Music will play selected pieces on the historic Welte organ, bringing an extraordinary exhibit to life.

The Welte Organ as a Resonant Center

The Welte organ is one of the largest exhibits in the Augustinermuseum. Its sound combines musical precision with the unique atmosphere of the former monastery. Resonance, echo, and the historic architecture engage in an immediate dialogue, making music history an experience in real-time.

An Intense Concert Experience at Noon

The 30-minute concert begins at 12 o'clock. The selected organ works unfold their effect in the special acoustics of the museum, while the organ's orchestration creates colorful sound layers and dynamic contrasts. The meeting point is directly at the Welte organ.

Music, Museum, and Freiburg's Cultural Life

The event series offers an unusual approach to classical music. Instead of a traditional concert hall, visitors experience the stage performance in the midst of the collection of the Augustinermuseum. The limited number of participants creates an immediate live atmosphere with short distances between the audience, instrument, and space.

Organ music at the Augustinermuseum connects historical space, musical expertise, and a concentrated concert experience.
