Information Day of the Music School Freiburg: Doors Open, Instruments Out
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Music School Freiburg will open the doors of its new building on Günterstalstraße for a morning of musical discovery for the first time. From 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, numerous instruments will be available for children, teenagers, and adults to try under expert guidance. Admission is free, and prior registration is not required.
Music to Touch and Try
Whether violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, singing, harp, guitar, or drums: the Information Day makes music immediately tangible. Strings will be plucked, drums will be hit, and wind instruments will be tried out. Instructors will accompany the first steps, explain playing techniques, and provide guidance in choosing a suitable instrument.
From the First Note to Making Music Together
The offerings of the Music School Freiburg range from instrumental and vocal lessons to music theory and ensemble work. Flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba are also part of the musical spectrum. Insights into musical early education, group lessons, and making music together turn the morning into an experience for the whole family.
A New Home for Musical Education
The building at Günterstalstraße 7–9 combines administration, teaching rooms, ensemble rehearsals, and smaller music events. In the new home of the music school, short distances, space for encounters, and an inspiring atmosphere for musical learning are created. The rooms have also been acoustically adapted for their use.
Music School Freiburg with a Wide Range of Offerings
The music school supports more than 3,100 students and offers services for children, teenagers, adults, and people with disabilities. The Information Day provides an opportunity to meet instructors, ask questions about lessons, and discover the sound variety of the music school for oneself.
Conclusion: Find Your Favorite Instrument
The Information Day of the Music School Freiburg combines advice, a live atmosphere, and active music-making. Those curious about an instrument or wanting to explore musical possibilities together with their child will experience an open morning full of sounds and discoveries. Admission is free – just come by and play the first note yourself.
